What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
According to Google, Search Engine Optimization is defined as “the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.”
How does this work?
Search engine crawlers scan websites to collect information. Crawlers decide the purpose and topic of your website. When someone uses a search engine, the algorithm decides which website to put at the top of the list based on the search query performed.
Why is it important?
We want to ensure that our current and prospective students can easily find the information they need when they do a web search. It’s imperative that our webpages show up at the top of the web search results, and that the webpage tells them exactly what they want to know.

Appearing at the top of the search results is important, but not the only thing to consider. Searchers need to be able to find information relevant to their search on our web pages - so page content is equally important as page rank.
